I knew a man with a twisted lip
who liked to give his missus the slip
he liked to wear false nose and frown
and go begging in London town
all the toff thought he was great
he rattled off prose at a fearsome rate
they would stop and listen to his sound
then they'd give him half a crown

His wife thought he was missing
Holmes and Watson thought he was pissing
his money up a gin palace wall
they didn't know where he was at all
when at last they brought him to book
they all had to take a second look
he didn't look like her husband at all
a twisted lip and not so tall

He had made a lot of cash
now he had quite a big stash
it earned him quite a few bob
it was better than a job
his disguise it was complete
when he took to the streets
and now his story can be seen
serialised in Strand Magazine
